SCOUTS / ROVERS

What are Scouts?
The Scout Section is for boys and girls, usually aged between 10 and 15 years. Scouts are encouraged to enjoy a wide range of activities as part of their programme. Scouting?s about taking part rather than meeting set standards and for the Scout who wants to be recognised for his or her achievements there are plenty of Awards and Activity Badges. Being outdoors is important and half the programme is given over to taking part in both the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking, as well as the wide range of adventurous activities,
anything from abseiling to yachting. The international aspect gives Scouting a special appeal and many Scouts now travel abroad. Jamborees both at home and internationally provide a fantastic
opportunity for young people from different parts of the world to share a unique experience. Scouting is about being with friends, as part of a team, participating fully in the adventure
and opportunities of life while having fun.
* Games * Outdoor activities * Design and creativity * Visits and visitors * Service
While you are a Scout you will experience:
Technology and new skills *Team-building activities *Activities with others * Themes
Prayer worship and reflection
Programme Zones

Zones. They are: Scoutcraft and Adventure In this, the largest Zone, you will find all the activities connected with camping and the great outdoors. This Zone is full of opportunities to learn not just the traditional Scouting skills associated with hiking and camping, but also those needed for adventurous activities such as climbing, caving, canoeing and sailing.
Global This Zone helps Scouts to discover the similarities and differences in lifestyle,
cultures and environments, both locally and from around the world. It helps them make a difference. Community This Zone helps Scouts explore the community in which they live, discovering local people, places and facilities. It also gives them the opportunity to offer
help and service. Creative Expression This Zone provides opportunities for young people to display their creativity through art, music, drama, design, worship and leadership.
Beliefs and Attitudes This Zone provides opportunities to explore and develop Scouting values, personal attitudes and a range of beliefs.
